Pros:
+ Detailed, insightful, and quite comprehensive reviewer feedback which immensely improved the quality of the manuscript.
+ Prompt response should you need any correspondance with the editor.
+ Great editorial assistance throughout the typesetting and print processes.
+ A highly respected and impactful journal that has broad appeal in child/family studies
Cons:
— From submission to early access view, extremely lenghty process. Took almost 1.5 year. This was by far the most cumbersome journal I have ever worked with in this regard.
— Publishes mostly quantitative pieces. Qualitative ones are rare.
— Education related pieces are rare; mostly publishes core developmental pscyhology pieces.
